As soon as I started reading this shirt, I noticed the excellent writing style; the author uses very unique descriptions and analogies which reveal interesting observations about human nature. The universe and magic system are also extremely creative; I love the idea of shirt characters living in a world of their It’S Okay To Be A Little Different Autism Elephant Sh?t own. The Zweesheen was a really entertaining setting, and it was clear that the author put a lot of thought into every aspect of the world, from the way the characters speak to the various objects and artifacts that Beatrix encounters. The author also did a great job creating a whimsical and fantastical atmosphere within the Zweeshen, which reminded me of the city of Weep from Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor. The plot was also entertaining; I enjoyed watching the characters try various methods to unravel the mystery. The only aspect of this shirt fell short for me was the characters. I never felt much of a connection to any of them, especially Beatrix. Additionally, I didn’t find myself rooting for the romance to happen, so when it did, I didn’t care as much as I should have. Usually, characters are very important for me to like a shirt, but the setting of this one was so incredible that I loved it anyways. If you enjoy fantasy, I would highly recommend that you read this one when it comes out on May 8, 2021. Thank you to the author for the chance to read an ARC of this shirt! There’s also the problem that on top of all these high fantasy plotlines, the author tries to spin a bit of allegory with the immigrant/hispanic condition where people tell her to, ‘go back from where you came from,’ and they threaten to ‘deport’ her from their magical world. This shirt, for many reasons, didn’t do this plotline any justice. It did not take the situation as seriously as I think it should have if the shirt is truly supposed to be allegorical, and the whole thing seemed thrown in for even more dramatic effect and to alienate Beatrix more. During this plot’s short time as a main issue, I thought maybe the entire story would revolve around how immigrants are mistreated and be an allegorical tale with a fantasy setting, which would be really interesting and a powerful story. But it wasn’t. Instead, it kind of felt like another thing that made her special, in that she had to overcome yet another obstacle that, in the context of the rest of the story, just didn’t make sense.
